WS2812 (NeoPixel) Clock

60 bright RGB addressable LEDs.
Ingenuity in hardware and software.
And a matte black PCB.

MkEDS have designed an innovative clock. This clock uses a ring of 60 WS2812 (often called NeoPixel) LEDs. The WS2812 LEDs can be individually addressed and each LED can be set to 255 levels each of Red, Green or Blue. The clock face is made up of the 60 LEDs. Markers of white LEDs are placed around the clock face at intervals of five minutes (as shown in these pictures), ten minutes or fifteen minutes. There are two further options, a single marker at the twelve o’clock position or no markers at all. The “hands” are made using coloured LEDs. The minutes are indicated using three green LEDs, the hours are indicated using three red LEDs and the seconds are indicated with a single blue LED. The time is displayed simultaneously on the LCD display (when not automatically blanked) and by the position of the LED "hands". The menu for controlling the parameters of the clock, and the setting of the time itself can be done using an LCD display. The LCD can optionally be removed as all menu operations can be carried out using only the LED ring to indicate the current adjustment and the value set by that adjustment.

The time is being shown on the LCD display as, 21:46:22

The "hands"of the clock are mostly obscured making it difficult to read the time on the clock face, but it is doing so!
